Bird Mart and Benefit Auction
Saturday, May 8, 2004

Held at the Lancaster Host Resort and Conference Center, Route 30, Lancaster PA
A Benefit Auction was held as the feature activity of the event. The auction benefited the ProPARROT Rescue Organization, a Non-Profit organization based in Lancaster, PA which is dedicated to finding loving and nurturing homes for displaced companion birds.
Other activities included a "Hands On-Fun Children's Activity Area" with project sheets and crafts with a pet bird theme and a "Hands On-Bird Information Area" sponsored by Chester County Bird Club.

Activities included:

a "SPBE Affiliated Parrot Exhibitions" took place throughout the two days and a special "IPS Parrotlet Show" was held Saturday only

*

a "Birdie Show and Tell" area - guidance and information on the care and keeping of birds, as well as many different species were on site in this interactive area

*

"The Wilson Parrot Foundation" - provided the opportunity to have photos taken with many of their Parrots, as well as conducting programs throughout the weekend.

 

Pet Bird Mart
Saturday October 29, 2005

Held at the Lancaster Host Resort and Conference Center, Route 30, Lancaster PA
Activities included:
*

Several "Parrot University Classes" were taught by a team of instructors who collectively have hundreds of years of experience caring for exotic birds. Classes include the opportunity for up close interaction with birds and a question and answer period.

*

a "Trick Training Workshop"- consisted of a powerpoint presentation followed by a film of a red bellied parrot being taught and performing the tricks it had learned. The red bellied parrot was present and asked to do the tricks "live" for the audience. Also an untrained bird was used to help show the audience the process so they themselves could train their birds at home.
